PLeaSe Comics Rights & Events Agency is pleased to announce the signing of a representation agreement with Kim Dong Publishing House for the graphic novel Yersin khúc hát cá ông, also known by its English title Dr. Yersin & the Whale Song, by Vietnamese author Tạ Huy Long.
This poetic graphic biography portrays Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943), the Swiss French physician, bacteriologist and explorer best known for discovering the plague bacillus. Having devoted much of his life to Vietnam, where he remains a revered figure, Yersin founded the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang, making a lasting contribution to the development of medical research, public health and preventive care.
Yersin’s story is brought to life through a singularly lyrical narrative. A master of Vietnamese comics and illustration, Tạ Huy Long deploys a breathtaking visual style—meticulous, expressive and dreamlike—that gives the book an atmosphere suspended between history and myth, reality and imagination. The book offers a genuine graphic experience, nourished by Vietnamese landscapes, memory and imagination.
This agreement marks PLeaSe CRE’s third representation of a Vietnamese work, following The Chronicles of All Men – Noãn (Vạn Nhân Hý – Noãn), a Shakespearean historical graphic novel created by the duo Linh Thạch and published by Du Bút Culture and Communications, and Holy Dragon Imperator (Long Thần Tướng), an epic and fantastical historical saga written by Nguyễn Khánh Dương and drawn by Nguyễn Thành Phong and Nguyễn Mỹ Anh, published by Comicola Joint Stock Company.
With these three works, PLeaSe CRE reaffirms its commitment to contemporary Vietnamese creation and its ambition to introduce bold, distinctive graphic narratives by major artistic voices to international audiences.

Cette biographie graphique et poétique d’Alexandre Yersin (1863–1943), médecin, bactériologiste et explorateur franco-suisse, retrace le parcours de l’homme connu pour avoir découvert le bacille de la peste. Ayant consacré une grande partie de sa vie au Vietnam, où il demeure une figure respectée, Yersin y fonda l’Institut Pasteur de Nha Trang, contribuant durablement au développement de la recherche médicale, de la santé publique et de la prévention.
Yersin est ici porté par une narration singulièrement lyrique. Maître de la bande dessinée et de l’illustration au Vietnam, Tạ Huy Long déploie un style graphique renversant, à la fois minutieux, expressif et onirique, qui confère au récit une atmosphère suspendue entre histoire et mythe, réalité et imagination. Le livre offre une véritable expérience graphique, nourrie par les paysages, la mémoire et l’imaginaire vietnamiens.
Cet accord constitue la troisième représentation d’une œuvre vietnamienne par PLeaSe CRE, après The Chronicles of All Men – Noãn (Vạn Nhân Hý – Noãn), un roman graphique historique et shakespearien créé par le duo Linh Thạch et publié par Du Bút Culture and Communications, et Holy Dragon Imperator (Long Thần Tướng), une fresque historique, épique et fantastique scénarisée par Nguyễn Khánh Dương et dessinée par Nguyễn Thành Phong et Nguyễn Mỹ Anh, publiée par Comicola Joint Stock Company.
