Rex Koo at Fantagraphics: A Hong Kong Star Joins a Galaxy of Masterpieces

PLeaSe Comics Rights and Events is proud to announce an agreement for the English-language publication of Rex Koo’s graphic novel, Nobody in Walled City, by Fantagraphics Books.
An iconic powerhouse in international independent comics, Fantagraphics is world-renowned for its high editorial standards and cult masterpieces, including Love and Rockets by Hernández brothers, Ghost World by Daniel Clowes, Black Hole by Charles Burns, and My Favorite Thing Is Monsters by Emil Ferris. Rex Koo’s entry into this prestigious catalog marks the international rise of a major talent in contemporary Hong Kong creation.
Awarded by a Special Mention at the 2026 Bologna Ragazzi Awards, the Silver Award at the 2025 Hong Kong Comics Support Program, and a prize at the Japan International MANGA Award, Rex Koo delivers a poetic and visually unique work with Nobody in Walled City set in an Ice Age where cats and humans hybridize in a shared quest for survival.
Previously, PLeaSe CRE closed a licensing deal in June for the French-language publication of the book under the title Les Velus with Belgian publisher L'Employé du Moi, scheduled for release in January 2027. To mark the publication, Rex Koo will attend the world’s landmark comic arts gathering in Angoulême in late January 2027 for meetings and signings with international readers.
Additionally, the PLeaSe CRE team will be attending the Frankfurt Book Fair. Publishers, creators, and partners are invited to meet the team in Hall 3.1, Stand H23 to discuss their expanding catalog as well as licensing and adaptation opportunities.
